HOME SECURITY
+ Fit External Security
Fitting external security will help to protect you from criminal damage and theft. For instance fitting cameras or light timers are suggested examples of this.
+ Stay safe with sockets
Do not overload plug sockets and ensure sensible use of extension cables. Waterproof boxes should be fitted to external sockets.
+ Get gas appliances serviced
You should have any boiler or gas cookers serviced by an Engineer at least once a year. This will protect the Central Heating System and ensure efficient running. It will also reduce the unfortunate and extremely dangerous circumstances of carbon monoxide poisoning, boiler breakdown and fires.
+ Get your electrics checked
You should have your electrics checked by a Part P Electrician every ten years. All new electrical installions should also be checked prior to going live.
+ Keep your drains clear and unblocked
To avoid your drains becoming blocked we would recommend you take steps to prevent this at least three times a day by keeping the drains clear of debris. Using drain unblocker frequently will prove highly effective in preventing blockages.
Outdoor drains are also important to keep clear of debris. Plughole protections will prove highly effective in preventing these blockages.
+ Keep your roof in check
Check tiles are kept in tact, if there is damage you should have this fixed immediately to avoid further escalations. Repair any leaks as a matter of urgency.
+ Lag taps and pipes
To prevent boiler breakdown, which is common in the winter months insulate your consendate pipes to avoid these freezing. To prevent plumbing and heating system failure, pipe insulation is recommended.
Lag all indoor pipes and your outdoor taps to avoid this from freezing in the winter.
+ Clean the gutters
Your gutters should be clearer out twice a year. Avoid clearing these out in the winter as this can prove dangerous in wet and rainy conditions.
